Gordon peabody
Founder and director of Safe Harbor Environmental Services, Gordon Peabody is an advocate for sustainable living and resilient ecosystem management on Cape Cod. Peabody has spent his summers living aboard a sailboat, experiencing the intimate embrace with the primal elements that shape our lives. He has served as a chair on a Cape Cod Conservation Commission, and chaired the Herring River Technical Committee to restore critical salt marsh habitat in the Herring River estuary. He has also been a Visiting Professor of Sustainability at the University of Wisconsin.
Peabody has developed innovative techniques for restoring sand dunes, which Safe Harbor uses to restore coastal ecosystems. These designs are public domain, and have been implemented globally. He also has designed a system to clean up oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico. Additionally, he has written dozens of publications on innovative ecosystem management, many of which can be found here.
Peabody provides free consulting visits and educational presentations, sharing his study and use of sustainable, natural systems, providing resilient, coastal habitat restoration systems.
